Back in August 1969, this late production Unipower GT was brought to Hong Kong by the then importer and sold to its first owner who kept the car until 1981, when the current owner bought the car, it having only driven 24 miles from new. Now on Hong Kong island, the car was initially garaged, but due to the expansion of the owners family, the garage was converted into accommodation and the car moved outside into the yard and covered with a tarpaulin. Its not clear exactly in which year this happened, but the humidity in that part of the world and its having languished for many years unused, has taken its toll on the car as can be seen in the pictures. The owner, who is a mechanic by trade, started work on the car, removing the paint and some other component parts. So whilst the car is otherwise just as it left the factory, the majority of the cars parts have suffered from the damp and temperature, so a pretty major restoration would be required to get the car back on the road again. Recent interest from the UK, nearly saw the car returned to the UK, but a car requiring less work was sourced by the prospective owner, so the car remains in Hong Kong.
If anyone is interested in taking on the restoration, then in the first instance please make contact by email on contact@unipowergt.uk
